Like Aquaman, it’s wave power!

Image
Like Aquaman, it’s wave power! I apologize for not having an article yesterday, but here’s something worth noting for certain to make up for it! There’s been a new type of energy generator out on the market and it is spectacular. It literally uses the motions in bodies of water to power it’s generators. The ‘wave power’ is something that has been in the makings for a while, and by a while I mean 1890 was when the first attempt was made. The first experimental wave farm was opened in Portugal in 2008 and gets most of its power from the daytime tidal power by the arms connected to it’s floats turning the generators to create power. The wave heights are determined by the winds passing over the ocean, but the bigger the wave, the more the power that is created from these generators that is purely green energy. These are still experimental to say the least but they are looking more and more promising every revision they go through. I hope you find this article interesting to say th...

Photovoltaic Power Stations or More Commonly, Solar Farms

Image
Photovoltaic Power Stations or More Commonly, Solar Farms There's something I really want to go over, and this in particular is about solar farms and their utility in our modern world. I'm going to start with the numbers first, then I'll explain them in laymen terms. With Photovoltaic power stations it costs about $1.8 billion to produce a plant that competes with common power plants. The typical coal power plant costs $1.5 billion without any environmental protections like capturing the carbon produced. It cost $2.6 billion for the coal plants that "carbon capture and storage", then it's $482 million for a natural gas power plant. The fossil fuel plants are definitely less expensive to say the least about them. The problem with them is that they are using limited resources and they are major producers of pollution. The ‘solar panel farms’ are a facility that takes a good amount of money, but they are using a resource that is unlimited and th...

Global warming: A New Look on an Old Topic

Image
Global warming: A New Look on an Old Topic I personally believe in global warming and the effects it has on our planet, hence why I’ve been writing about lowering your carbon footprint and other things of that sort. I also believe though that global warming is a process of this planet that we might be putting too much stock into. I’m sure that all of you are asking what I mean by this, but there are two words that I think relate with this perfectly: Ice Ages. According to professionals in the field, there have been at least five significant ice ages within the last 1 million years, not just one. In other words, the earth goes through these like they’re tissue paper and use them to balance out itself. If there are periods where the planet starts to get warm, then there’s going to be periods where the planet gets really cold too. It’s all just part of cycles, like the seasons being a micro cycle or living animals having their own cycles for life. Nature is obsessed with cy...

Bellabeat Leaf Urban Health Tracker: A Brief Review This is a guest article on this blog, I hope you enjoy it! :) There is something new on the market that needs a little more attention; Fitness trackers. These are able to do a number of things to help us keep track of a plethora of items like sleep, activity and stress levels to name a few. Some trackers are able to do more than just this though! One of these trackers is the Bellabeat Leaf Urban health tracker! It’s able to tracker your activity, sleep, meditation, stress and even your menstrual cycle with it’s Bellabeat app! On top of that it has a smart alarm and doesn’t require charging since it’s internal battery lasts 6-months! It can also track your breathing exercises if put in the right place! Our Final Services And Alternative Ways to Rest in Peace

Image
Our Final Services And Alternative Ways to Rest in Peace As I mentioned previously in one of my articles, I recently experienced a loss in my family and a fantastic father figure when I never had one. I will truly miss an amazing man that I loved and sometimes hated in the same breath. He wanted just to be cremated, which actually sparked my interest in what some other alternatives to burials there might be. I knew right off the bat that there are regular burial and cremation, but then I started looking into them and there are funeral pyres which are still used to this day. There’s also a service that will put your ashes into the soil of a sapling so you can help a tree grow. I personally would want cremation and then my ashes put into the ocean out in California. I’ve always loved the sea and everything about it from the smell to the sounds and all the awesome things you can find at a beach that the tide washes in. I also wouldn’t mind the whole part of helping a tree...

To Become Self-Sufficient, There’s One Necessary Item

Image
To Become Self-Sufficient, There’s One Necessary Item I’ve been going on about becoming self-sufficient and making sure that everything you have in your house is safe for your family. I haven’t mentioned much on the best methods to reach that self-sufficient point yet though. One of the hands-down best ways to achieve this self-sufficiency is owning a greenhouse. A greenhouse will allow you to get your gardening going without having to worry about neighborhood animals coming in and getting to your harvest before you do. It also allows you to have your garden a bit before and after the actual gardening seasons started or ended. It protects all your yearly efforts and starts a personalized biome for them as well. I personally have been looking at the Abba Patio Walk-In greenhouse for myself and been pouring over it's reviewing online. I’ve seen a lot of them going for either the worst greenhouse possible or the best one yet. Then after going through about 30 of them, I n...

The Best Way to Provide Green Energy on a Daily Basis

Image
The best way to provide green energy on a daily basis With increasing concern about global warming and lessening your carbon footprint, there’s been more technological leaps and more answers to the ever-growing concerns. One answer lately has been a big one that’s receiving a lot of push. That particular item has been applied to multiple situations, such as at-home use and on-the-go. It has hundreds of products installed on a single field and has dozens of your neighbors using it in one way or another. This amazing versatile product is solar panels. They can be any size and are the perfect way to charge your electronics whether you’re on the go a lot or you want to take it up to the mountains with you on a hike! With some power banks, they actually have them installed on the power bank itself and allows you to just put it in a pocket of your backpack and charge it while you’re going on a hike or walking around the city to allow it to charge! I personally have a solar panel...

Quell Wearable Pain Relief Starter Kit Review Sorry for the late post everyone, but here's a good pain relief system I just found out about! There’s a certain point where you get to that the everyday pain you feel is just way too much for anyone to handle every day. That is especially true the older you get I’ve come to find out. I used to have to take medications and Aleve like it was no one’s business, that is until I found out about Quell. You know those little electrode-based ‘Tens units’ they sometimes have in hospitals? Well, this is just like those! It’s easy to put on and lets you just wear the thing right below your knee and handles the pain relief. It takes care of so much pain that I could go into my regular day job and handle things just fine with this little accessory. This wearable pain relief is super effective and even has a patent on how it handles pain with how cutting edge it is! 81% of Quell users reported improvement in their chronic pain, and I fall...

Low-emission living with compost bins and renewable energy.

Image
Low-emission living with compost bins and renewable energy. There’s something that’s getting a lot of attention lately, and that specific something is called ‘zero-emission homes.’ These are homes that provide all of their own heating, cooling and produce absolutely no waste whatsoever that ends up in a landfill. There’s a number of ways that these homes do this, the biggest parts being solar panels and compost bins in their kitchens or outside. These compost bins are the perfect tools to have if you’re wanting to use some of your waste for gardening soil and provide your new plants the best soil you could ever give them! There’s a number of them, but I’ll describe my favorite compost bin here in a little bit. With zero-emissions most people avoid getting plastic bottles at all costs or if they do, they make sure that they can recycle the plastics that the get in packaging in either their city provided recycling bins or through nearby networks to take the recycling to. As I’ve...

Different diets for a better lifestyle

Different diets for a better lifestyle Today, there are just as many different diets as there are colors in the rainbow. Are they really beneficial or what do they usually get associated with? Some diets are of course related to religions, but others are related to intolerances and allergies. One good example that is fairly prominent right now is a lactose intolerance, lactose being something prominent in dairy products. I’m going to guide you through a good majority of the vegetarian diets out there in the world today and explain the benefits or the downfalls in this article! I’m going to start with Fruitarian, which is a diet consisting of mostly raw fruits like oranges, bananas and apples. There’s also Lacto Vegetarianism which is a diet that allows certain dairy products but excludes the consuming of eggs or products like cheese or any product that contains animal rennet. Basically their stomach acids to make things like cheese and other items. There’s also Ovo vegetarianism...

A few tips on having a healthy and green home

A few tips on having a healthy and green home There’s a number of things anyone can do to make sure that their family is only eating the best and in the safest environment possible. These days there are a number of horrible things that are included in foods, cleaning products and in things like air fresheners. There’s a number of things to avoid, the first being things that have high-fructose corn syrup. A lot of sauces and dressings have this already in the packaging like gum, syrup and sodas especially. This has lately been considered a very unhealthy form of sugars that are naturally found or harvested. With cleaning, all that is really needed to clean a house is dishwashing soap, vinegar,, baking soda and water! There’s plenty of housecleaning products that boasts about being for heavy-duty cleaning and in all honesty, they are usually dead on. They aren’t meant to be used in the house where the chemicals are ingested everyday. Some of these chemicals are horrible to be arou...

Some quick ways to reduce your carbon footprint in the office

Some quick ways to reduce your carbon footprint in the office If you can’t tell, I’m on a bit of a kick about recycling and reducing waste across the board and I’ve got another area that I have some quick advice on! There’s a load of things you can do that only take a little bit of preparation that can lower your carbon footprint on the environment. The biggest item would have to be preparing your own meals at home with your own drinks that don’t involve canned soda. There’s actually those flavorings that you just quirt a few streams of the flavor into your water bottle and have a great tasting drink at work. Another item you can do is using Glad or Rubbermaid containers for your lunches instead of plastic bags or aluminum foil. If you commit to these small things everyday it allows for you to have a lesser impact on the environment while also saving some money on what you are using to package your meals. It’s also a much lesser footprint than eating out since most fast food o...

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce There’s something I want to talk about desperately with any audience and all of the future visitor’s to this blog of mine. Recycling used to be looked at as something that was tedious, laborious or something that just didn’t have good enough profit or rewards from it. That was only 20 years ago, however there now factories that focus solely on turning our used byproducts into raw materials that companies can now use. Like used water bottles getting turned into the packaging materials for new products and used cardboard boxes getting turned into writing paper. There’s a multitude of your current products that get turned into packages. I actually just recently bought some water at a store that had it’s entire ‘bottle’ made from recycled plasitcs for the lid and paper for the ‘bottle’ portion. There’s also a good amount of ways to contribute to recycling your byproducts. Firstly most universities or colleges have recycling means and bins. My nearby university...

Couponing, benefits and drawbacks

Couponing, benefits and drawbacks Ever since I was young, I always remembered my mom getting the Sunday newspaper delivered and pouring over the coupons that it had in that week’s issue. Now my mom buys 5 Sunday newspapers and only the Sunday edition and stockpiles the coupons for things like food and cleaning supplies and also eating out. I will forever love my mom for the dedication she put into that tedious task and all the scissor scars I now have from helping her clip those ads out. She put in so much of her heart and soul into it. The crazy thing though, it saved her an insane amount of money by clipping those coupons out and making everyone wait in line a little longer. I get it, there’s only a select few people that will actually sallow their pride and pull out a binder full of coupons, but it’s worth it. Say there’s a coupon for $2.00 off of name brand paper towels in a 12-pack. That’s enough to last a family of 4 around two weeks, and it adds $1.00 more than the off-br...
