Couponing, benefits and drawbacks

Couponing, benefits and drawbacks

Ever since I was young, I always remembered my mom getting the Sunday newspaper delivered and pouring over the coupons that it had in that week’s issue. Now my mom buys 5 Sunday newspapers and only the Sunday edition and stockpiles the coupons for things like food and cleaning supplies and also eating out. I will forever love my mom for the dedication she put into that tedious task and all the scissor scars I now have from helping her clip those ads out. She put in so much of her heart and soul into it. The crazy thing though, it saved her an insane amount of money by clipping those coupons out and making everyone wait in line a little longer.

I get it, there’s only a select few people that will actually sallow their pride and pull out a binder full of coupons, but it’s worth it. Say there’s a coupon for $2.00 off of name brand paper towels in a 12-pack. That’s enough to last a family of 4 around two weeks, and it adds $1.00 more than the off-brand 12-pack would save you. Now say you got 5 or 6 of these packs and their coupons. That lasts you about 3 months and you saved $5 and that can go into savings or a decent lunch at your work’s cafeteria.

Honestly, whenever you buy in bulk and apply the coupons, you’re ending up with the formula to save big time. Any family can use that and usually the coupons are only name brand or the brand-new all-natural and green start-ups looking for their first customers to boost their sales. This is a simple solution to making your family safer, healthier and doing it smart. You’re kids will honestly love you for it too and remember you for that time you spent together doing something that will help them when they grow up too.
