Some quick ways to reduce your carbon footprint in the office

Some quick ways to reduce your carbon footprint in the office

If you can’t tell, I’m on a bit of a kick about recycling and reducing waste across the board and I’ve got another area that I have some quick advice on! There’s a load of things you can do that only take a little bit of preparation that can lower your carbon footprint on the environment. The biggest item would have to be preparing your own meals at home with your own drinks that don’t involve canned soda. There’s actually those flavorings that you just quirt a few streams of the flavor into your water bottle and have a great tasting drink at work. Another item you can do is using Glad or Rubbermaid containers for your lunches instead of plastic bags or aluminum foil.

If you commit to these small things everyday it allows for you to have a lesser impact on the environment while also saving some money on what you are using to package your meals. It’s also a much lesser footprint than eating out since most fast food or other food places also come with a lot of packaging for their meals like Styrofoam or paper bags. Those packaging methods are harsh on the environment and take more than just a few years or even a few decades to break down and integrate into soil again. Some Styrofoam types are even like a poison to the plant life that grow around that area.

Another trick I would suggest for you to try is talking to your Human Resources about getting recycling bins put into your workplace. You’d honestly be surprised at how ready employers are to save the environment if the employees want to do the same. Yet again, just some food for thought! :)
